Venue and accommodation information for IOHA BOD Meeting

The deadline for booking accommodation with the travel agency is 1st October. Board members are asked to bear in mind that the hotels tend to get very busy in Autumn with sight-seeing visitors, and that visa applications for Japan take at least two months.

Currently there are visa exemptions for 67 countries or regions. Nationals and citizens of those countries and regions are not required to obtain visas to enter Japan when their visits are tourism, commerce, conferences etc, as long as they do not engage in paid activities in Japan, or their periods of stay exceed those stipulated in each country’s arrangement of short-term stay (most countries are 90 days – Indonesia, however, is 15). For the list of countries and more information about visas, please see the links below.

Exemption of Visa (Short-term Stay) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan

Visa Information – Japan Tourism Organization

Countries that are not on this list of visa exemptions include: Brazil, Colombia, Macedonia, Vietnam and South Africa. Nationals from Malaysia are only visa-exempt if they have an e-passport. Nationals from Taiwan are only visa-exempt if they have a passport with a Personal Identification Number. Nationals from Indonesia are only visa-exempt if they have an e-passport registered to one of the diplomatic missions in Japan. Please be sure to check whether you require a visa.
